I believe that usefulness of electrical tape stems from the fact that it does NOT conduct electricity. It is called electrical tape because of it's insulative properties, hence, you may use it as a protective barrier to prevent the shocking your poorly informed viewers should they try something more dangerous than recharging small alkaline batteries.
