I have Synaestesia, and it WAS really annoying to see the colors that didn't match up to mine! I actually didn't realize that I had Synaestesia until just a little while ago when I made a comment to my piano teacher saying "Yeah, I see #C as a golden yellow color, what do you see it as?" and she just looked at me like I was insane! I just thought that everybody saw things in colors. People think it's really weird when I tell them about it, but I can't imagine life with out it, really.

Hi, I am not a synnie (person with synesthesia), but i study it as a scientific researcher. Surprised that you also have it! I wonder that some special mental conditions, like autism, synesthesia, and "highly sensitive person" (like me), are somehow related. Not exactly similar, but all are about a higher sensibility to the environment and a different sensory system from "normal" people. You have black 0 and O, white 1, I and L, which is quite common among synnies!

I think my only similarity to you was the number 3 - bright chili red! I am visually impaired and the numbers of my grapheme-color synesthesia are strikingly identical to yours! The color which you gave your "3" matched mine so precisely that it was scary. :-) It indeed seems that synesthesia occurs more often among the disability community as a whole and is not limited to a particular disability. Grapheme-color is certainly common among people with low vision.

Yes, that's called associative synesthesia, and it's just as legitimate as hearing it with your ears, which would be projective synesthesia. (I'm an associator, and I heard the sound like fingers gently tapping on a big empty cardboard box, but only on the way out. On the way in, I heard nothing.)

The synth bassline at 00:50 is blue, shiny spheres the size of softballs that get smaller. It seems to be made of plastic and it changes to a white, matte rough sphere that is a bit translucent. My friends tell me I'm crazy. =/Eespecially when I tell them that some orgasms are pink and sour...or thin and...something I cannot describe. Not sure what category it is. I have color synesthesia but it happens with numbers mostly. The strongest one is seeing sounds. I can describe any sound by texture, thickness, transparency, temerature, width, height, depth, and very rarely, color. When I heard the song start, I got goosebumps, felt mildly lightheaded and felt a cold breeze. Then, I "saw" a white fog. Not with my physical eyes but with our audio eyes. That was the first 5 seconds. Now I'm just dissecting the sounds. I see hay and rain droplets. ThIs sucks,LOL.

I wonder if other Synaeths feel the need to adjust colors etc. in their environment to avoid interference with their experiences. I'm audio Synaethetic and I've noticed I tend to prefer darker, less vibrant colors in my environment. I definitely dislike being surrounded by large areas of uninterrupted loud colors. I wonder if I prefer this so as to provide a less background interference. Anyone else ever notice anything similar?

One mistake that comes to mind is when you said, "...here is what we KNOWN." The correct way would be "...here is what we KNOW." Known is used for past tense. So something like, "we have known" but, "we will know."

This is very individual at every single synaesthete I think. What helps to understand it is if you make yourself clear that everything YOU see happens in your mind or brain as well. For me as a synaesthete it's just the normal way to experience music by hearing, sseing and feeling it. I just couldn't imagine just to hear music; I assort my playlists by the main colours of the music. It's just another kind of reality, but to me it is as real as every other sensation.

When I think of some letter, some color sometimes comes to mind, not always though. So I think I don't have synaesthesia, just some thing because of the ABC book with those colorful stuff. I suppose mine is very low, the only one I know for sure is that certain letters have colours, but my memory isn't necessarily better because of it. I actually have quite bad memory. I don't know what triggers it, but I sometimes see rumbling black and white dots in the back of my head, they can be either large and aggressive, or small and mellow. The large ones scare me.

I've known I had synesthesia, but I didn't know that my time/day/week/year perception was part of it (it's very similar to yours, holy shit)! I only have it for letters, words, numbers, the above stated, and music. I don't have it for smells, tastes, emotions, etc and I don't apply colors to people, I only apply colors to their names. I think I have a mild form of synaesthesia. Whenever I hear a song, especially instrumental, I see shapes as a certain color. No specifc shape/color relates to any particulr note, but there's always a certain equence of things that happens only to one song. Another song, the sequence and shapes are different. Example: This first song here. In my head, I see white, 3D parabolic shapes (like lower halves of weddind dresses) flying around like jellyfish.

I'm a girl, I have synaesthesia and I love living in the world of colour. I've also got Asperger's syndrome (which is rare for women but Synaesthesia is more common in women, go figure!) I've also got epilepsy and seizures alter my perception. Some people say they with they could experience "my day" - save them going to SGI-heavy wovie :-)) he-he.... I've NEVER wished I was "normal" - they don't seem like very happy people, obsessed with money and stuff. I'm obsessed with Star-Gate SG1 series.
