I think this was a FABULOUS performance, a joy: very true to the spirit of the musical, the pianist was very skilled, the voices were right on and a joy to hear, and the choreography, as well as dancing, were fantastic! It seemed to be mostly authentic and Jewish, but some Japanese culture influence was evident. =) Fiddler is one of my most favorite musicals, I am trained in musical theater and very experienced, so I don't take kindly to poor performances. This was WONDERFUL overall!

Yes I have watched Cat on a hot tin roof many times and I can almost quote the words spoken by all the actors . What a fantastic cast. Everyone played their role so perfectly . It was turbulent, moving, passionate, realistic and I loved the onscreen drama between Newman and Taylor. I believe he did not really like her in real life but they should have done more movies together

Word, I've listened to lots of music and I've been to quite some gigs and I can't quite think of any music that radiates such energy and has such a funky atmosphere surrounding it. I hope the 3rd comming will be soon.

This was so fresh and so different an so unique. Often imitated but never duplicated. Even the most cynical music writers stopped trying to label and "figure out" P-Funk and just grooved with the rest of us. Great, great memories with this. Thank you for posting this.

Thanks for the post! Only a handful of artists that have appealed to me in my lifetime (outside of a song here and there) and Carole is right up there. If you hadn't posted this I wouldn't have known about the release of her new DVD - and I definitely will be getting it. Maybe one of these days she'll perform in Chicago - I'll be watching and hoping.

Opinions are partially formed because of people's natures. I think I have to agree with Vintage Sunset - those who enjoy Peter Pan or Narnia over this are looking more for excitement and glitz and glamour: all very shallow persuits. Not sure about arrogant though.

Narnia has some power to compliment the sparkle, but Fiddler on the roof is about people and reality rather than fairytale creatures. I enjoyed the movie of Narnia, but this film interests me more because it deals with more important topics. Also, Fiddler on the Roof is the best of its kind - it's downright hillarious and downright miserable, occasionally at the same time.

wow....fiddler on the roof is one of the most inspiring, beautiful and i\most wonderfully crafted musicals in musical theatre history. if you think that a silly, child-ish play like peter pan or narnia (which isnt even a musical) is more incresible that fiddler on the roof, then you are one very arrogant, shallow person.
