I think its like about the story of samson and Delilah tied down to reality, where he never had incredible strenght and how cutting his hair changed nothing. And so they never go down in history and the bible never mentions them and he just goes back to bed. He couldn't tear the columns down, because he was just human.

The thing that makes this song unique and beautiful is that it makes no sense, all of the amazingly sung and classic songs usually make no sense. So what makes Regina Spektor an absolute sensational artist is that a lot of her lyrics make no sense apart from the icy heart touching phrases she uses eg. It's grown on me bit now that I've listened to it a few times - I think the main problem is that it's just too slow for that style. i listened to "Fidelity", which has a lot of the same elements, and I liked it a lot more, because it's fast enough that the interrupted style sounds upbeat, not halting. The dropping of the ends of words sounds very forced to me, especially because her native language is Russian, and most Russian singers I've heard do the exact opposite when singing in English.

She's got a great voice, which is why it puzzles me that this song isn't as well done as it could have been. She swallows the ends of half the words, like she's suddenly deciding to go breathy halfway through and just dropping off. The instruments are an odd mix of flowing and cut-off, too, and the whole effect to me is just like it's staggering along. Granted, I haven't seen the movie yet, and I'm sure it's impactful in context - but on its own, it's a pretty unremarkable song.

Agreed - It's all about love and respect. Regina Spektor is a monster talent (writer, player, singer, performer). I saw her wow 10,000 people with nothing but a piano in Austin (ACL) last year. Anybody that loves John Lennon should be jazzed that an artist with this much credibility and talent is keeping his work alive. As a huge Tori Amos fan and a huge Regina Specktor fan I am absolutely appalled that you would compare them. Omitting the "girl with a piano" genre they are completely different in their musical style. The composition and the ambiance of their music are very unique to them.

Tenho 27 anos. Nasci em 1980. Não sei como fui gostar das musicas dessa epoca. Meu pai tinha muitos discos bons, mas, eu não costumava ouvi-los. Passaei a ouvir musica la pelos meus 12 anos, mas...nada me agradava. Era tudo ruim...então resolvi explorar os discos do meu pai e descobri aqueles "tesouros". Elis...Chico....Pixinguinha...Cartola....etc...etc...etc. Musica não é questão de estilo. É de gosto. E graças a Deus o meu e o da mairoia de vocês é o melhor possivel! AMEM!
