No. Wrong. I lived in Scotland for almost my whole life. No such thing as the Irish language. People like to believe there is but there actually isn't. It is just a branch off Gaelic. Same thing with the Scottish language. Its not actually Scottish its Gaelic. It also isn't a modern day language. Very few people actually speak it anymore though there are villages that do.

I think it had to do with the church. Before, they danced using their arms and hands and everything, then the church stepped in and said they could only dance with their feet, and that moving the rest of the body was inappropriate... that's how I heard it anyway! =)

Why not just read about Jesus, or the Apostles, and see if that activity has some merit, the miracles aside.. He spoke a lot to ordinary folk, left instruction for ordinary people, and if you read the letter of the Apostles, you will find a slew of great advice. I have heard that way of defending oneself against the message of the Bible, which is outright childish. Because, the miracles are not what you are supposed to walk away with, but morals. wasnt the new testament reformed/changed in the time of constantine at the time of the "sin-fall"? to call them reliable would be a bit much wouldnt it :P. but I'm sorry, I made a mistake. No, not when you take into account the four gospels, all the epistles by people who knew or heard of Jesus, and all the accounts of his life that were not included in the canon (the Bible). Actually, we have more evidence for the existence of Jesus than most people of that age. For instance, in Galilee there would have been carpenters, pot makers, wine yard owners - of which we have heard nothing today. Still we know they must have been there. It's all relative baby!! :)

Yes, that is in fact exactly what it is. And that interpretation has developed ever since. It is called 'TRADITION' in Catholicism, it means HOW scripture is supposed to be interpreted. That is summed up in the Catechism. That book is in a sense a perfect summary of all the Church and the Saints know about how to interpret the Bible, since the time of Christ up til now. It is _not_ pick and choose, that has been done. But with the Bible as a raw text, one doesn't see that, = the problem.

that is only partially true. jesus modified the law of moses and in some cases made it even more harsh. i would advise looking at 2 timothy chapter 3 (it says ALL scriptures of god are helpful and useful,) and matthew chapters 5 and 19 (jesus never rebukes the law of moses, he ups the ante) for example, instead of actually committing adultery to be guilty, you only have to use your eye for lust- in that case you must gouge it out.

I think what you are referring to is the Law of Moses, which Jesus improved (brought closer to God, ie. we get the New Testament, to the Will of the Father). According to Jesus, we should not stone people for their sins, but they on their own hand have a duty to repent and fix themselves morally, in thought(intention), word and deed. So, it is not pick and choose, it is actually following the New Testament.
