I like Brock very much as a fighter. He was the perfect fighter to take out Couture. If he and Kimbo would fight each other, Brock would kick his ass. However, Brock has a glaring weakness. He doesn't know submission locks and how to avoid them. That is why he lost to Mir and will lose to either Mir again, Gonzaga, or Naguira in the near future. He is the most overrated wrestler in history. This was was a Goldberg match EVERY SINGLE TIME!: Music hits, smoke blows. Goldberg breathes out the smoke, snorts some and hits himself. Then the match starts. He throws some punch and some kicks, then spear, jackhammer, and it's over. Then some more snorting and hitting himself. And he was unbeatable, pfft. Anyone with any brains, without wrestling training, could out smart that gorilla. I never want to see that again.

I guess 95% of the people commenting missed the point of this. The whole point of a Rube Goldberg Device is to use as many machines as possible to achieve a simple task. The whole point is to make a number of machines go through a complicated pattern to achieve a simple result. Try to imagine playing all 27 variations from beginning to end, with no mistakes and perfect tempo. And without sheet music, All by memory. Gould was the kind of man who could do that. We could probably count on one hand all the people alive today who could do that. The vastness of his talent is staggering. Thank god for J.S. Bach, Glenn Gould, inventors of hifi and Yamaha. I listen to this almost every day and it's in my head every day. It sets me in a contemplative mindset I enjoy being in. Although Gould made lots of fantastic recordings like Bach, Beethoven and Haydn, for me this is a highlite in his great career.

I love these variations and yes Gould is wonderful; in his interpretation there is much that is new and insightful. However for me the versions by Wilhelm Kempff and Murray Perahia will always be the consummate performances.

I felt the exact same way after I heard Gould play. He inspired me to take the piano more seriously. He taught me what Bach should sound like. Of course, i's very difficult to sound like him - his staggering talent aside, he has also fixed his piano to give that tight harpsichord sound, which is very hard to reproduce on most pianos. You may not be as great as Gould, no matter how hard you work, but it's definitely a good thing that you are inspired. Listen to Glenn, but aspire to be yourself
