Well I guess the problem with me is, in my mind, I'm comparing Nights to Super Mario 64. Both games came out at around the same time. I bought an N64 on launch day and was thoroughly blown away by Mario 64. I never got around to getting a Saturn until something like 2003, so it was never a special system to me. I'm not saying Nights is a bad game by any means, I just feel it's overrated...

Panzer Dragoon and Knights(sp?) were set up on a display at my local Blockbuster many years ago, as well as Mario 64 and Crash Bandacoot. i admit it was ultimatly a dumb move on his part. but to be fair to him he was playing it safe, after all, not many RPGs made it out of Japan back in the Mega Drive/SNES days, they werent considerd mainstream really (only 3 of the 6 final fantasies came to the US, none to Europe before FF7) why spend money translating a huge game that might not sell so he may have been acting out of experience. and he supposidly has a lot of it since he started at Atari back in the 70s

You are correct, I understand the point you are trying to make. however Sega's early surprise launch backfired and many of the games orignially promised to be avalible at launch weren't, with the exception of those mentioned in your posts above. Sigh The point is you said you guys mentioned there were "no killer launch titles for the Saturn" (about 1:20), only to then say "lets talk about some of the big titles that came out for Saturn AFTER the system was released" (1:25). You go on to mention Virtua Fighter, Daytona USA, and also Panzer Dragoon among these great tiles released after the system came out, when in fact, ALL 3 of those were launch titles, and the system itself was bundled with Virtua Fighter at launch. Look it up.

The 5 Rocketdyne R1s on the Saturn pushed over twice as much power as the space shuttle. The fuel they used was Kerosene (Refined Diesel) and an oxidizer (Oxygen which you see being released at the last minute before launch) that's also why the smoke is so black when it's immediately leaving the nozzles. Pretty smart because fuel that is not completely burned is actually cooler than the stuff that is burning just a little further below, thus preventing the bottom of the rocket from melting.

This is a run through Sega Rally in a Lancia Delta Integrale - from loading up the game to completing the bonus stage in just 8 minutes. I tried to do this over and over for many hours, but I STILL couldn't win the final stage. In all the years I've had the game, I've only won it once before. Anyway, this is one of the best driving games on the Sega Saturn, despite it having a short life-span!

The handling on this game has yet to be matched by any other driving game IMHO. No driving game feels as natural as Sega Rally. Me and my brother used spend hours challenging each other's time attack records. Most of today's racing games are not any fun; I don't want to fiddle around with cambers and suspension, I just wanna drive! In terms of gameplay, Sega Rally trounces today's pretentious racers.

3 tracks, 2 cars, 1 bonus track, 1 bonus car...and I loved it!!! Are we so spoilt these days or what?! At the time the INFERIOR Ridge Racer was out on Playstation (until Gran Turismo, I hated PS1), never have I hated a game so much compared to the fantastic Sega Rally. Also, the new Sega Rally games have changed the formula and aren't as good in my opinion. I remember back then going 'wow, look at the trees!' ...the trees suck! lol. Times change fast.

Easy, check out the sequence when the feet at the base plate of the rocket flod up into protective covers. They do get scorched and I bet some of it required replacement before the next launch, but it is my understanding that most of this launch pad was used multiple times.

Whenever I see these launches, I wonder how much of the launch area and equipment is destroyed on each launch. Those short towers for example that you see at 0:50 and again at 1:07 and later. Do they survive the launch? Or are they cooked and disintegrated by the blast? And what about other equipment like the swinging arms that attach the rocket to the tower? Do they survive fully intact? Does anyone know what's actually reusable and what isn't?

For me this game was pretty sad because I was waiting for a formal sequel about the TFIV, but when they told me that other company made the one for Saturn, and then readed the story, I was like disappointed... the game was made for saturn hardware, so alot of 2d scaling tricks that look like 3d (panzer dragoon 2 is another example). Plus the amount of ram available for textures was higher on the saturn. The ps version was decent but the saturn version was the better.

This was a couple years ago, but from what I remember, it was more fluid and the load times were a lot lot faster! I believe the PSX version was a port of the Saturn version. Saturn had far more potential, but not as much support as PSX. If you get a chance, compare Myst on both systems and you'll see how much the difference is.
