Well i have not heard of Mugen. But if the game works on debian linux like ubuntu, it should work on this wii-linux, since almost the same. But this is only a theory, sadly i dont have a wii to tried this out yet.

All methods of installation normally instruct you to install on a external flash memory. Nothing on the Internal 512 mb ram is used for the installation. Just buy a 2gb or 4gb SD card for Wii-Linux, it is worth it. I am currently developing a site on instruction of how the most layman can install linux on wii and ps3. When done ill post a video + link on youtube. Look forward to it in a couple of weeks. Hope this helps.

Just one question, I'm not linux savy on the Wii, even though I use Linux on PC, but if I wanted Linux on Wii, is it temporary, such as, boot of SD or external memory, or does it install into the Wii's flash memory, and does that overwrite the Wii's memory?

Since it's Linux (Debian actually), installing a VNC client and / or server won't be any problem. I haven't tried that yet, but remote desktop sessions to windows work fine.

Replying to Dncemnky - Your files will not automatically carry over depending on where you install it to. If you install ubuntu to another drive other than your windows, you can do whats called a dual boot, basically having both ubuntu and windows. But if your overwriting the windows drive you have you'd have to back up all those files to either another harddrive, storage card, flashdrive etc. and carry them over manually.

Thats the whole point. It would seem like Ubuntu is using more processor time than Vista, since it looks just as good/better, but since its optimized better, its actually using far less. I'm not saying Linux is the ultimate solution. It isn't... yet. If however you know more than a little about computers, and don't mind learning command line operation, Linux is very efficient.

Most of the programs in Linux are far worse than Microsoft's ones. Only a few can compete, like: GIMP and Amarok. Its true, its more "user friendly" but it turns to a nightmare having to fix all and any issue with a stupid useless console wich will take you time to master it cus its like using MS-DOS. And the visual aspect is a complete bunch of crap, theres no comparison to Vista's visual themes, all of them suck in Linux (if ever appearance is important for you, cus for me it is).

Believe me. You will get tired of it at some point. I resisted only 2 months. The first day was an oddisea to install Lime Wire, it didnt work at all. Then... finding a decent instant messenger. Then running my MS programs. Then visual issues and customizing. Then an update in which all fucked up: the audio, the video, everything. I could have fix them all but, having a techical issue once a week sucks. Go back to Vista, it's a big relief.

I have Ubuntu newest version on my Dell Laptop, I got tired of all the 'jokes' that Windows would pull. I have no complaints so far, it takes a little while to get used to the Heightened Security of Linux Ubuntu -you have to authorize installations and such- though there's no virus problems so far Quit Windows. Years ago, linux was not usable, now it is working.

Linux está creciendo. Las grandes empresas empiezan a voltear hacia este so. Sin embargo no cabe duda que Win sigue teniendo buenas cosas. Por ejemplo su IDE Visual Studio o su SGBD SQLServer. Son muy estables e incluso las aplicaciones en C# compiladas en VS son más veloces que las compiladas en Mono. Linux crece pero le falta capturar la mirada de las grandes corporaciones para empezar a competir de manera seria. Pero cuidado, ya lo está haciendo. Bien por Linux, solo uso linux.

That is one of the most atractive things in GNU/Linux, Compiz, when people see it, instantly they want to have Linux, even if they dont know Windows. But even you dont have knowledge of terminals, you could use an Ubuntu, Knoppix based distro, most of today Linux distros are start to being more easy than back in the days. I use Debian and runs fine with all that stuff, but at the end is just an eye-candy and doesnt give something usefull, at least Desktop Switch.

La arquitectura es diferente, uno trabaja sobre pc (linux) y el otro sobre un hard pensado para ese soft(mac). Teoricamente sun tiene el soft mas desarrollado segun ellos. Hay una diferencia que no parecer ver. Linux no es TODO el sistema, es el núcleo, que es de lo que se habla en la entrevista. Eso deja fuera cualquier entorno de ventanas y/o aplicaciones varias. Linux, como núcleo (que es lo que es) es el mejor en rendimiento en la actualidad. Busca benchmarks y míralo. Más del 70% de los supercomputadores usan Linux. Curioso... :-)

Yo no digo que es un sistema de frikis, eso os lo habéis inventado vosotros. Yo uso Linux y Mac desde hace años, y el Windows siempre lo he odiado. Lo que yo quería es expresar lo importante que es para mi que sea de código libre, poderlo modificar a tu gusto es increible. Aún así, a Linux aún le falta mucho para acercarse al nivel de rendimiento de un Mac. Yo soy defensor del código abierto hasta la muerte, eso es así. Yo uso Ubuntu, Fedora y Mac OS X, he usado hasta el Solaris. Cuando digo algo es porque se del tema. Yo lo de que decía es que no se le saca todo el jugo al Linux hasta que aprendes a exprimirlo, me refiero cuando modificas y compilas tú los programas a tu gusto. Hace años que no uso Windows porque me parece que está en la edad de piedra comparado con Linux y aún más comparado con Mac. Linux es genial, yo no he dicho lo contrario.

Como dice el otro amigo es completamente falso, Precisamente esas aplicaciones de las q hablas son faciles y vienen de serie en distribuciones como Ubuntu. En windows tienes q star buscando los programas q te vas a bajar (y encima suele ser ilegal) en Ubuntu te basta un click para bajarte cualkier programa. Las cosas faciles se hacen igual de facil q en Windows, son las dificiles las q cuestan mas (pero tambien da muchisima mas libertad)

90% of the speed from software is determined by the software, rest is hardware based. A crappy coded piece of software will run sluggish regardless of RAM, CPU or graphic card. If you don't believe that Linux is better performance-wise, why is it possible to run it on a computer with 16M RAM? And the 3d effects doesn't take much power. I can run it on my laptop, it has a graphic card with 16M of shared RAM, best part is; it doesn't affect performance noticably either.

Wrong on all counts. You'll find memory management in windows to hit the crapper when you load up zillions of apps. Also, the 3D cube stuff is done with hardware-accelerated graphics. It SPEEDS THE INTERFACE UP ON MODERN COMPUTERS. And lastly linux totally rapes the other two for performance largely because you can optimize it for your hardware.

Well you can start all those programs on windows and everything else... it's just about the ram you have and what cind of processor you have. To run all those programs cant be be too hard, + you do not say how mush all those programs take... you can start paint 400 times on just 4gig ram. So you cannot say that linux takes more programs than everything else, It's mostly the hardware it depends on. :D OK, I don't want to extend this any more, it's just that when someone says that he/she's using Unix (which actually doesn't exist), u know what I mean, well they are actually using the console for making their life easier, otherwise they are just using a window system not Unix. That is why people like it so much, u can do almost anything using shell programming and Ansi C :D (please don't start :D)... if u really are into Unix I invite you to use Plan9...for real...good luck !!! :-)

the thing is.. we both are seemingly alluding at the same thing but from different angles :P a new comer DOES not need to know the details about shell programming to start using *unix, it's the same for windows as well..you ideally should know about stuff before delving into the OS, and it is the same for any other OS.. i agree that windows may provide just a bit more through the GUI than what *unix does.. but i again repeat..newbies don't need to know shell programming to start using *unix

From a beginner point of view that should be "totally" true; but when it comes to doing "some more",and there's no button, or you're in a hurry and have no time for having fun with the mouse, then they recall a scary you_tube post where people were talking about shell programming and commands and stuff like that :D;If anyone using Linux gets anything but curious when hearing "shell programming" they would actually get sacked in no time from a company that asks u to "know unix".w u t best of luck

see...you are again partially right... you call this behavior as being part of using linux for real... see don't get me wrong.. i am a CS nerd who is deep into shell programming and rarely use the GUI myself... the thing is.. beginners sometimes get scared off by this talk (learning shell programming for using *unix).. and we shouldn't be preaching shell programming at least here learning shell programming is good.. but you can get the work done without knowing it.. my Prof does :P Peace out!

what would u do if u want to replace the blank spaces in file names with _ ? I mean how long it would take u to do that manually, for every file on your disk... it should take u about 10 sec to write the command, than the computer would do the rest...yeah you could make a program to do that..but you would miss all the Unix essence. Of course you can use Linux ignoring that there is a Shell "thins" over there but what would u do when there is no program/button to do the job u want?

actually not 100% right...a lot of the guys at my university from non-CS background use their *unix OS seamlessly without knowing a lot of shell programming... i understand you need to know like real basics but that's about it unless you need to do some extensive stuff with your *unix machine

Haha, if you delete the Ubuntu Partition while on Vista then GRUB is still there, trust me, I got screwed from it. Luckily I figured it out. If you delete the Ubuntu Partition and GRUB won't let you start up, then put in your Windows Vista CD and type the following into the command prompt when you can... bootrec.exe_/fixmbr

If u delete the Linux partitions the boot manager Grub will disappear. Windows will run some disk repair tasks and that's it. Just install windows first and than linux. U can reuse the / partition to install the new Ubuntu version... make a /home for keeping personal info that would stay untouched when reinstalling...U should learn shell programming that will help u use linux for real...or at least some basic commands.. clicking it's not the way

Eu, por exemplo, consigo jogar Counter-Strike 1.6 (e source), age of empires III, consigo executar o Microsoft Office e tenho conseguido executar tudo o que quero no meu Linux com bastante qualidade (raros problemas): Porém, os Sims 2 não funcionam. Perfeito. Fiquei aprisionado ao windows durante muito tempo, com o incrível medo de dar cabo do disco-rígido quando o fosse a instalar. Mas no dia em que o Windows Update começou a actualizar-se contra a minha permissão, decidi instalar o Ubuntu, Hoje é-me muito útil, para programar (muito melhor), e posso fazer tudo o que fazia antes, até mesmo jogar Counter-Strike:Source (com o Wine). actually, it offers a better, more stable, and secure environment. Windows is a resource hog, not to mention it is full of security holes, which cant be fixed becasue its closed source. I like to see windows run cool looking visual effects at under, a web browser, document writer, under 400 mb of ram. Not to mention all the choice you have over almost everything, from a file manager, to your desktop enviornment

Instead of using brain signals as a post below said (cfgauss), it would be better to have a finger cap on the middle finger, use it on the touch screen, and it acts as a right click. While pointing finger is naturally the left click. But you would still need a better game interface. Much more affordable and feasible with the technology we have today. But damn, brain signals would be really awesome. And if done correctly, keyboard, mice, joysticks etc... would pretty much be obsolete.

Haha I would like to see you micro with that touch screen hahaha btw the gaming is extremely difficult with touch screen technology because by it's nature you cannot touch screen on "2 different ways" but only to touch it, while with cursor you can e.g left and right mouse buttons clicks,so with touchscreen you have to manually set each unit and/or group to work,go,stop,attack,etc. It can be done in a practice game, but not in a competitive gaming.
