I honestly don't think that we will see any kinda jump towards more stable phones/laptops till we hit some sort of plateau in technology (which I for one am willing to deal with some stuff that won't last as long to get the innovation.) but it would be a smart thing in the long run for a company to put out longer lasting phones at a slightly higher than base price range because there are the people like my parents who just use a phone until when ever and don't need anything special.

i feel the exact same way man, everything nowadays is overexspensive and breaks within a year. i had a enV and the driver and slot for the microSD card got damaged and verizon had to replace the whole phone, luckily for free cause it was still under warranty. well phone wise i would want something that lasts the contract because then your screwed when it breaks past the warranty. but with laptops its pretty hard to choose between a long lasting one or a one that lasts 2-3 years. But I would get a laptop that lasts long because it's worth it. Even if technology moves on while your stuck you're still going to be fine.

i feel like a lot of people definitely want technology to last like those german engineered cars but the fact is that's not what technology is... technology is ever changing and in our fast paced world everyone wants the newest stuff right away. i totally agree that some technology should last for the average consumer who wants it to last, but unfortunately companies are too busy competing for the new features because that's where the money is : /

I can't remember the name of the brand/ phone name, but theres a phone maker in sweeden or some country like that that makes a phone that is essentially bulletproof. The screen is bulletproof plastic, the battery cover is damn near impossible to take off cause there's a special glue on it to make it water proof, it's survived being ran over by a car and dropped from second story buildings, it even has a camera, lol. But it's like, 800 bucks, so it depends if you want to pay for lasting quality

I think the more tech savvy and most of the time, the younger you are, the more features you want that you don't actually need. I am a teenager and I think that I would rather have my phone break in 6 months because I will probably get tired of it, then I would be able to ask my parents to buy me a new one. Rather than a phone that would last 5 years I would like a phone that would last me 2 years , and also not be obsolete in 2 years. The closest I've seen is the Iphone which I happily own now.

i got the voyager for christmas, and i have to say, its the best. the only thing bad is the size, but if you have big hands, and big pockets, it doesn't even matter. my friend has the glyde and i really dont like the keypad, the voyager has a much bigger one, and two huge screens, plus, its cheaper!

i got the voyager about 2 or 3 weeks ago and im really enjoying it. i dont hav mobile tv but even without it i think its a great phone. some people say its too big but it is the perfect size for me and my hands rnt exactly huge. its quite durable 2 cuz i dropped it on tile and it didnt break =] i highly recogmend it

Lol I didn't know that you were a teacher...but I work at a school now and everything you're saying is true, beyond true, and it's a shame because teachers put in soo many hours...and sometimes more involved in a childs life than the parents. What i think is great about these 2 interests/careers is generally speaking there is no 'age limit' on either, basically in essence you're always going to be able to go back to teaching whenever you want, its not something that you can only do for a number of years. Obiously the money is a key factor, if you enjoy what you're doing at the moment and the money is good then why not carry on, the future is something else. p.s whatever you do, STAY ON YOUTUBE! lol :P

the sprint instinct is a total piece of shit. The first one I got was frozen in DOWNLOAD mode, whatever that is. So I took it back two days later and got a new one. It worked OKAY for awhile there, but all of a sudden it started freezing on me all the time. Now I can't even make phone calls without having to wait for it to unfreeze. This phone blows. I've been reading about tons of people online with the same problem. I hate this phone. FUCK this phone!

No T9 or predictive text makes me hate the phone. hopefully they'll upgrade the software. And WHY, WHY, WHY is there no on/in phone storage for the stylus? jmann... what an awesome critique man... its dumb and a "waist" of money.. detailed descriptions like that of why other people didn't like it really help. Any phone that gives you an MP3 player, GPS, internet, visual voicemail, and oh yeah - it actually works great as a PHONE.. let alone costs $130.. well needless to say I'm happy with it. Plus right now a family plan - 4 lines sharing 1500 minutes with unlimited data - is going for $169 right now... that's $42 per line. Boo ya!

actually u can make full screen by pressing the voice recognition button when only the left side bar is showing..then u can old the camera button and tilt the phone and it will scroll the webpage that way.

I forgot to mention, you had one slight mistake...when you're in the browser setting, if you push the "talk" button on the side of the instinct, it expands the webpage to maximize the entire instinct screen so you can see the entire webpage even larger...also, if you push the "camera" button while browsing and hold it, this allows you to pan and scroll without touching the screen...try it.
