It does sound like Zorn's work, but I believe it's by Leszek Jankowski (or Lech Jankowski for short), who had worked with the Quay brothers before.

Who did the music? Sounds like a John Zorn composition. The feel is lovely as much as the images are arresting. Relentless symbols; beautiful.

I'm also a huge fan of the book it's based on "Jakob Von Gutten" -so I was a bit disappointed that the Brothers Quay sucked all of the humor out of the novel (the novel is actually very comedic). The film translates the obesseive, fetishized, bizarreness of the novel, but all the humor is completely lost. I still love the film, though. It stands on it's own apart from the novel.
