Again, the lead in lights are barely visible through the rain as the video starts and then we get a great view of the checkerboard through to touchdown. This approach is in the rain. The other video is a little clearer but still grey out. Cockpit Video Landing San Diego H.264 Posted by: airboyd
Video duration: 300 seconds Another test using H.264 codec. The video is 2x until the turn to final then normal speed for the approach. The camera was mounted too low to capture the airport properly. The quality looks good but I think I'm dropping frames. I'll work on being able to get air to ground transmissions for future videos. I'll probably need to wait until my next computer to solve the frame drop though. In regards to the zooming comments, I only zoomed to the cockpit window, a mere 5 feet from the jumpseat. It is framed top and bottom in the shot. If you have seen my takeoff video, you know you can barely see anything outside if you do not. Anyway, the landing speed is well over 120 knots. That fxxking city you so lovingly referred to is Hong Kong, which is rated by Time Magazine as in the same league as New York and London (see the Nylonkong edition). The airport you trashed was Kai Tak - closed for 10 yrs now. Kai Tak was small, crowded and hair raising yes but it had super efficiency being the 3rd busiest international airport in the world. It did so much with so little and earned HK billions of revenue, enough for it to build a gigantic new airport on the sea - Chek Lap Kok.
