no, they were setting up empires in the Americas. It's arguable that exploring and claiming new lands is much easier then capturing others in war. In this case there was no more unclaimed lands in Europe and making war there was harder then simply taking over the lands from the Indians who had inferior technology at the time.

Look, this game was great because the Age of Kings was over. If you haven't realized the 1st one was about Rome and the old Empires. Then it was the Med evil times, thus Age of Kings followed that path. And was the next greatest empire? The race to acquire the Americas. I'll admit the campaign doesn't follow a correct path, but the games physics and over all mechanics are beautiful.

There is a way to record this... Put it in virtual PC or VMWare and then use Hypercam 2 or something. It'll be slightly laggy since it's emulated but it'll work because Fraps doesn't work very well.

Ahhh... AOE2... good times... I truly worship this game to this day. Nothing could have been better when it was made (1999!!!), and even with today's games, nothing could replace it. I mean, the AIs are no better. The UI is no better. Basically, all the 'new' RTS are just the same old stuff, rendered in 3D engines with more textures and a higher frame rate. How can perfection be improved upon??? I say it simply cannot. And perfection has already been achieved. Right here.

OK... if you want it to night go to scenary editor( i dont know if it is wroted like that, im not english lol)and there you shall see some things in the right up on the monitor, click on the lamp( i think it was a lamp) and then you can set it to different lightings( like night)but you can only have the lightings in the scenary editor( i think so)... I can tell you about the fort later, because i dont have time now... I hope this helped :)

People hate it because you barley need any tactics. You just need to upgrade and spam one units and some cannons. Nothing that's anti something. For example 5 pikemens get slaid by 10 cavalery...

ive played all three games and id have to say that blizzard has a better user interface, making the game easier to play, while microsoft games lack rally points and a attack move button...overall, blizzard games are easier to play through while aoe has a broader range of strategy. imo, if warcraft 3 had a food cap of 200, id be all for it, wheras if sc had better graphics and less pointless/dumb units, id play that, but overall, aoe has a better compromise of both.

My examples weren't perhaps the best to emphasize the issue, indeed, those Mayans etc weren't peace-loving and moral as you say, but the "little people", or the chickens, if you wish, are always those that will get decapitated in the end. Provided the resources are randomly spreaded out in the world, these theories are limited to various factors. You made an arcitectual error: you didn't make spaces between some houses and by so you made your buildings easy to be wiped out by an area attack and your own units must go around instead of using shortcuts throgh buildings (and of you place 9 then if the middle one is damaged you need to destyory one to fix the middle and that is a waste or resources)
