A minister with Universal Life Church was arrested by state police at Pocono as a “John Doe” because he allegedly invoked his right to remain silent during a traffic stop for having a loud muffler. Thomas Sweeney, a guitarist who plays in bands in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, was charged with endangering troopers during the stop Aug. 5 on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Bear Creek Township. AT LEAST 14 Pittsburgh Steelers participated in a shooting party with Pennsylvania State Police troopers at the Greensburg barracks, using state police ammunition and illegal assault weapons from the evidence room, sources say. A state trooper who had been assigned to Troop N in Hazleton has filed a federal lawsuit against several state police officials and commanders, claiming they violated his Constitutional rights. The allegations contained in a lawsuit filed by Lt. SNYDERSVILLE (PA) — A 75-year-old man is in surgery in Lehigh Valley Hospital after being shot five times during an armed confrontation with state police in his residence. Police were called to 4103 Manor Drive shortly after midnight for a report of shots fired. They talked to Hagen's roommate, whose name has not been released, and were told Hagen was recently diagnosed with dementia and displayed erratic behavior during the past few days.
